Rooted Recap

Rooted is HSM's annual discipleship weekend where students were challenged and pushed to take their personal walk with Jesus Christ to the next level.  This weekend was filled with amazing worship from the band Overflow from Port City Community Church in Wilmington, NC.  Challenging messages from Scott Satterfield from Goldsboro, NC who asked students to figure out what exactly is Jesus calling them to step out in faith and trust God with.  Student's had the opportunity to choose different breakout sessions, lead by leaders from all around on specific topics that were tailored to what is truly going on in their lives right now.  Those topics were How to have a legit quiet time, What is true worship, Q & A, No excuse leadership, Finding Mr.Right, Anger (Finding Joy vs. Happiness), Learning to be in the world Not of it.

Not only were student poured into all weekend long, they had the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and serve our community.  Over 75 High School students served the Town of Cary, where they completed over 2 weeks of work in 2 hours!  There was 20 students who served at the Carying Place.  Student's there painted, raked leaves and landscaping.  Students were also found at Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network (WIHN) where the raked over 32 massive bags of leaves, collect garbage and put on crafts and games for the kids in the area!

This weekend was exhausting spiritually, emotionally and physically but a weekend all student will remember forever and if you ask any of the students it was absolutely worth every minute.  Students lives were changes and we saw God do amazing thing over the course of 2 days.  Our God is so big, so good and so amazing that He has the ability to take our little bit of time mixed with our brokenness and change lives!
