Between giving away artificially intelligent speakers, students lip syncing their heart and souls out to Justin Bieber and High School musical, and over 150 students joining in worship together, I guess you could say Pulse was pretty hyped last night. Students from all across the triangle gathered together to join as a family in bringing praise to our God and to dive in to the weighty topic of the importance of the friends we choose. What an amazing picture!

Stuart Hall, our guest speaker last night, kicked us off into our series #SquadGoals and shared with us the significance of who we choose as our friends and the influence they have on our lives. As school is just now getting into full swing, we need to start out strong in finding a solid group of friends to hang out with. A group that will encourage us, support us, and ultimately point us in the right direction, point us towards Jesus.

Proverbs 18:24 shares

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Surrounding ourselves with people who pull us in the wrong direction can lead to making destructive choices or turn us into someone who we don’t want to be. Yet, we often end up in this situation due to our powerful desire to be accepted. But let’s remember that we are already accepted by the most important person, Jesus. He showed us this when He laid down His own life for us and now lives INSIDE of us. He sticks closer than a brother. We don’t need to worry about acceptance anywhere else! Yet, we want to find a group of people who we will strive to love us as Jesus does, who truly accept us for who we are and push us to be better.

Small groups is a great place to find that. Come join us next week from 7 – 9 p.m.
